Queen Elizabeth National Park is the second largest National Park in Uganda after Murchison falls National Park. The park is a home to four of the big five game among other wildlife living in various sectors of the park.

Kazinga channel boat cruise is one of the unique activities in the park which offers you opportunity to explore the park and view several aquatic lives among other animals. Kazinga channel is a 32-kilometer-long channel that connects Edward and Lake George.

Kazinga channel boat cruise is a major activity in the park, Queen Elizabeth national park boat cruise is done in two sessions which is morning and afternoon sessions.

The morning session starts at 9:00am and ends at 11:00am and the afternoon session commences at 2:00pam and ends at 5:00pm.

Each session lasts for about 2- 3 hours. During the boat cruise, you will be able to see several animal species including the school od hippos in the water, Nile Crocodiles basking along the water backs.

other animals are seen coming to drink water at the shores including; elephants, buffalos, water bucks, warthogs among others. you will also enjoy the beautiful scenery, views of the sun set among other attractions.

While in the boat cruise, you will also view several aquatic bird lives including the cormorants, African shoe bill stork, Marabou stork, bee-eaters, fish eagles, hornbills, king fishers among others. you will also spot the fisher men preparing their fishing nets for night fishing.

The Kazinga channel boat cruise costs 30 USD per person for foreign nonresidents, 25 USD per person for foreign residents and 30,000 UGX for East African citizens per person. park entrance fees cost 45 USD per person.

Best time for Kazinga Channel Boat cruise

Kazinga boat cruise is done all year round but the best time is during the dry season in the month of June, July, August, September, December, January to February, during this time, there is little rainfall received in the park which is the best time for game viewing when all the water holes in the park have dried up animals gather in the only permanent water spot in the park which gives you opportunity to view a abundant animals along the shores coming to drink water.

Other activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth national park offers other interesting activities besides Kazinga channel boat cruise.

Which include; Game drives in Kasenyi plains, Mweya Peninsula and Isha sha sector famous for the tree climbing lions among other animals including Buffalos, elephants, Uganda Kobs, water bucks, topi, giant forest hogs, Guided nature walks in Maramagambo forest or Mweya Peninsula where you will get up close and personal encounter with several wildlife species.

How to get to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Getting to Queen Elizabeth national park has got several options i.e., the park can be accessed by air transport where by you can book domestic flight that schedule flight to various national parks in Uganda.

you can book a flight by Bar aviation Uganda or Aero link from Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi airfield landing in Kasese or Mweya airstrip and then you will connect by road to park where you will access the Kazinga Channel.

By road, Queen Elizabeth can be reached from Kampala via Mubende Fort portal or Masaka, Mbarara driving straight to the park headquarters which takes about 7 to 8 hours drive on 4 WD safari Vehicle. Kampala is the starting point to many safari trips in Uganda or Entebbe which is the Entry point in to the country.

The park can also be accessed from Kibale forest national park which takes about 2 to hours’ drive to get to Queen Elizabeth National. The park is located not far from Kibale forest National Park.
